Um reduto de prosperidade em meio à aridez,
representada pela bela casa, com piscina, lanchas e quadra de tênis. Nas adjacências
da moderna casa-sede existiam casas para funcionários.
Num cair de tarde chegou a nossa casa um
caminhoneiro amigo de meu pai, numa boléia de carreta, sem carroceria, e eles foram até a Magna, como a fazenda Charneca era chamada. Tiveram
a boa vontade de permitir o meu embarque e de outras crianças que estavam
próximas e foi um momento de festa para todos.
Às vezes eu ia também com
meu pai, quando ele ia fotografar ou
entregar retratos de alguém que residia lá. Imaginava como seria a movimentação na bela casa
nos dias de visita dos seus proprietários, que viviam fora, mas nunca cheguei a vê-los por lá.
